Roda de Coladeira is a cultural project that began in 2019 and aims at promoting Cape Verdean culture in the diaspora, especially in Luxembourg. This is done by bringing Cape Verdean artists to perform in Luxemburg and to other European countries in events that are organised principally by women.
Music – mainly sung in Creole – is an important element of the traditions of the country, and in this sense bringing Cape Verdean artists to perform to the diaspora communities is a way of strengthening the communities and their traditions
As we bring Cape Verdean musicians to perform in Luxembourg, we also promote the events to a wider audience. These audiences gain a chance to get to know Cape Verdean music better, but also to gain more knowledge of the Cape Verdean culture and communities that are present in the society.
Organising music events is an area that is dominated by men. Our aim is to change this and work more with women, to give women a strong role
